On Saturday 4th June we had a very successful stall in Faversham market. The focus was to inform people about the extent of Hewlett Packard’s complicity in the illegal Israel occupation, and was part of a simultaneous action across at least 20 UK towns and cities.
We handed out many cards and were able to engage in discussion with people about the purpose of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement – a peaceful means of challenging Israel’s oppression through economic pressure. Were pleased that 39 people signed the pledge not to buy the electronics giant’s products.
We were also delighted that we sold almost all the Palestinian Zaytoun products, olive oil, dates and zaatar that we always sell on the stall, supporting Fair Trade Palestinian producers. Some people made small donations to our group, which we are always pleased to receive.
