Peace campaigners from Campaign Against Arms Trade East Kent have announced a protest in Thanet this Sunday 11th October.
The “short sharp” demonstration, at 12 noon, is in response to a bid by Israeli-owned arms company Instro Precision to expand its business by moving from Broadstairs to a larger site at Manston Airport.
Instro is owned by Elbit Systems, which makes 85% of Israel’s drones, which were used to commit likely war crimes in Gaza last year and which also help to maintain the siege of the Gaza Strip.
Details of the demonstration can be found here.
CAAT East Kent is also urging people to email Thanet District councillors to object to Instro’s planning application. A template letter has been produced for people to use or adapt. Councillors may be deciding on the application before the end of October.
