One Year On: Gaza vigil photos

By Penny Newell

A group from Faversham & Whitstable PSC attended the vigil in Whitehall on Friday evening to mark the anniversary of the start of last summer’s devastating massacare of Palestinian men, women and children in Gaza by Israeli forces.

We arrived as the names and ages of the children who were killed last year were being read out – more than 500 names.

We laid the flowers we had brought, and read the messages other people had attached to their flowers.

While I was reading the messages a Palestinian woman spoke to me thanking us for our support, and then we had a hug. It was heart-wrenching.

I hope the event was not ignored by the people in 10 Downing Street opposite the vigil. It was also attended by a group of Jewish men who held their banner stating that Judaism rejects the state of Israel and condemns its criminal siege and occupation.
